Enniscorthy waits until it’s really Christmas before switching on the lights

| January 5, 2018

Everywhere Christmas appears to arrive earlier each year. The 8th of December traditionally marked the start of the Christmas rush but those days are now well and truly in the past with Christmas lights being switched on as early as mid-November now in some locations.

However, Enniscorthy prefers to keep a bit of tradition when it comes to Christmas and opted to be the last of the four main towns to switch on the Christmas lights. In effect waiting until Christmas really started in December before they got in to the swing of things.

The big highlight in Enniscorthy is of course Santa in the Castle which has proven to be very popular in recent years and retains its magic for children and adults alike.

There was a big turnout for the arrival of Santa in the town and plenty of fun and games as they counted down to the official switch-on.
