Weather fails to dampen enthusiasm at Leo Carthy Festival 25/08/17

| August 25, 2017
During several decades in public life Leo Carthy was noted for his willingness  to travel all over the county to help local communities with their festivals.

He would sing, organise singers, organise musicians or act as MC, whatever the occasions demanded. He did it because he loved music, Irish traditional music in particular and he was also a great supporter of community and community events.
It is fitting now, several years after his death the former long time member of Wexford Co. Council is remembered with a festival in his own name in his native Our Lady’s Island.
This year’s event was not blessed with good weather but it went ahead nevertheless with the attendance enjoying the open air entertainment under whatever covered they could get.
There was walking and running for the more energetic earlier in the day and even sheep racing during the afternoon festivities.
Everyone had a really good time and Leo himself would have been delighted by the festivities.
