Race in progress

The new season kicks off at Wexford Racecourse on St. Patrick’s Day and for the very first time the venue has a programme of all national hunt racing throughout the year.

The opening fixture comes right as the Cheltenham Festival reaches its climax with the Gold Cup and full coverage of Cheltenham on screens throughout the enclosure will add to the atmosphere on the day. Full betting facilities on Cheltenham will also be available to racegoers at Wexford,

After the morning parade the racing offers a great afternoon of excitement and entertainment for families with plenty of places to eat and drink and activities to keep the younger racegoers occupied.

Racing gets underway at 2.20pm and there is a seven race programme to be run off throughout the afternoon.

If you  are a regular racegoers there is no better way of getting value for money than by joining the Racecourse Members’ Club and if you join now the membership will cover access to all eleven meetings this year and it also includes free entry to eleven meetings at other  racecourses in the South and East of the country.

The main objective of the club is to raise funds to help the racecourse improve facilities, both in the enclosures and on the track and considerable success has been achieved with that aim over the years with a much improved track attracting better quality hoses which continue to deliver better racing at the venue.

Racecourse Manager, Michael Murphy, has expressed his appreciation to the Members Club for all their assistance in helping the course carry out improvements and he said the club members made a valuable ongoing contribution to the course.

The feature race on the card on St. Patrick’s Day is the €26,000 Artic Tack Stud Veterans Chase with the Micheal O’Murchadha Memorial Hurdle the next most valuable event with €16,500 in prizemoney on offer.
