The programme for this year’s Wexford Walking Trail festival will be announced on Thursday, September 1 st in Bunclody Library. This year’s festival will take place from September 23rd – 25th and will involve a selection of walks on trails in Bunclody, Enniscorthy and Askamore.

Events on featured trails will range from a walk through Enniscorthy town with a 1916 theme, rowing trips on the River Slaney, walks suitable for the casual walker lasting 1.5 hours to the more challenging 7 hour walk suitable for experienced hill walkers.

This is the third walking festival and previous festivals have showcased the network’s walks in the Rosslare and Oulart, Tara Hill and Kilanerin areas. The quality and diversity of our county’s walks are becoming more widely appreciated and are attracting more walkers year on year.

Wexford Walking Trail (WWT) was set up under a LEADER training programme under the Wexford

Trails banner with the objective of establishing a collaborative approach to developing walking trails throughout the county. The majority of trails have been developed and maintained on a voluntary basis with a view to raising awareness of the location and type of trail within the network, improving trail infrastructure, establishing waymarking and trailhead signage and promoting use of trails to locals and tourists alike.
