One of the most talked about acts on the local music scene local rock band, Frankenstein Bolts, play Wexford Arts Centre on Friday 16th October at 8.30pm Their very distinctive style was chosen earlier this year by Guinness to receive three days studio time anywhere in the country.

That time was put to very good use as the band recorded the single. Hotpress magazine has also tipped the band as ‘one to watch’ in 2015.

Best described as a ‘dream-Pop/folktronica two piece’ the band was formed two years ago and is composed of songwriter Justin Cullen and Dan Comerford. Having had some background in sound engineering Justin’s original idea was to keep Frankenstein Bolts as a home recording project to release songs online. However, after notable interest in the initial demos he decided create a full album, ‘Slow Season’ which was released in April last year.

At the time he of that release Justin realised the need for a live band – the first incarnation of which included bass, guitar and drums played with backing synths. The resulting national tour was a great success and earned Frankenstein Bolts a strong national following.

The band also got regional airplay and good support from online indie stations. The opening track of the album ‘Sleeping Sacks’ was used by Vodafone as their hold music for the year.

In the summer of 2014, with band members committed to many other projects, Justin began the search for a more permanent line-up and formed a working partnership with Dan Comerford (another Wexford songwriter) and duo now have a set of very original songs which they perform using vocals, drum loops, harmonisers, synths, and effect-laden guitars.

The recent studio time came as a result of the band being selected through the Guinness Amplify initiative and the judges of that also chose the band to take part in their ‘Live Stages’ series of gigs.

‘Up To The Root’ is the first of the singles to be released from those studio sessions with the second track due for release later in the year.
