Joy for the Under 21s 29/08/15

| August 29, 2015

It really is great to reach an All Ireland final and our Under 21 lads did us proud in Thurles on Saturday evening brushing aside Anrtim. It was a one sided affair but that matters nothing because the important thing is that we won and we are in the All-Ireland. Forget all this talk about poor game, terrible match and all that rubbish, the lads could only beat what was put in front of them and that’s what they did. I know it might have been better if they had a tougher test to prepare them for the final but they hadn’t and that’s that.

The under 21s are in the final, the place they wanted to be since the start of the season so their major objective has been achieved. Now ,of course, they want to win the title and I think they are capable of doing that. However, they face a tough challenge because Limerick, their opponents in the final, look to be a well drilled side. The Shannon siders will go in as favourites but that does not really matter. Wexford will have a big say on the day and we have the quality and experience to beat any team when everything clicks together. So let’s go and do it and once again well done to the boys and everyone associated with the team and remember we are all behind you and maybe I should tip Limerick to win because that should be worth an extra man to Wexford on the day given my record this year.
