Shock as Shore ban upheld 04/02/15

Wexford hurling received a significant blow this week as it emerged that Andrew Shore will have to serve a 48 week ban handed down last year unless it is successfully appealed. This will mean that the Wexford man will have no part to play in this year’s Allianz league.

Currently playing his club hurling and football for Parnell’s in Dublin, Shore initially received the ban when he played a game in Birmingham in October of last year, believing that all his transfer paperwork was in order before he took to the field for Roger Casements club.

After a personal hearing in Newcastle, Shore received confirmation that the ban would be upheld. He is expected to appeal the decision and in an official statement Wexford manager Liam Dunne said that he hopes that common sense will win out in the end and he can play a part in Wexford’s league campaign.
